Are you looking for a flat belly diet? Do you want to have a six pack (guys) or completely flat stomach (girls)? Is belly fat holding you back on your fitness program? Here are some tips for a flat belly diet. First, make sure you're getting enough fiber in your diet. Fiber comes only from plant sources. You can't get fiber from meat or fat. The best way to add fiber to your flat belly diet comes directly from fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
WHAT & HOW MUCH TO BODY?
Processed foods take lots of fiber out of foods. For example, a medium baked potato (with the skin) has 3.8 grams of fiber. But, if you make a box of scalloped potatoes, you'll get less than 1 gram. So, try to have fresh and not processed foods.
You need at least 25 grams of fiber on a flat belly diet.
Next, you want to balance your carbohydrates. You need carbohydrates for energy, so you don't want to deplete them as you would in a diet like Adkins. But, you don't want too many because that breaks down into glucose which further breaks down into fat. The ideal range of carbohydrates is 45 to 65 percent of your daily calories.
Protein should make up between 15 and 20 percent of your calories. You need protein to build lean muscle. Also make sure that fats from all sources make up no more than 25 percent of your daily diet.
WATER?
You should drink plenty of water. Some people believe that they will bloat if they drink a lot of water. It is a mistake. You will lose the water you drink through sweating and urination. However, water will take the sodium in your body with it. Sodium is what really causes you bloat.
Speaking of which, if you want a good diet for the stomach, you have to limit sodium. Most people need around 500 mg. sodium in a day for their body to function. The American Heart Association recommends that people place an absolute cap on sodium at 2,400 mg. Still, the majority of Americans get between 3,000 and 6,000 milligrams. one day. It's just too much. Part of the problem stems from adding salt to the food. But, much of the problem comes from processed foods. Processed foods use salt for both flavor and shelf stability. Just like with fiber, a flat belly diet will rely on fresh, not processed foods.
Another thing to consider when reducing or eliminating a flat stomach diet is "fizzy" drinks like soda. Pop and spritzers increase swelling because the carbon trapped in the bubble produces the dioxide gas. This slows down your stomach from emptying.Limit or eliminate your consumption of alcohol and caffeine. These are natural diuretics which increase fluid loss. They do not replace your body fluids as effectively as water or juices which are the preferred beverages on the flat stomach diet.
TIP:
The last tip I have for you is to try to reduce the stress in your life. Cortisol causes the stress hormone to act up. Cortisol causes fat to be stored around the organs in your abdomen. Exercise is a great stress reliever, which has the added benefit of helping you to lose weight all over.
